Venus in Retirement.
David Michael Nixon has published three poetry chapbooks and one full-length, limited edition, book of poetry before Venus In Retirement. He lives in Rochester, New York with his wife Barbara and two cats, Rocky and Lily. Unlike Venus, David cannot afford to retire, so he continues to do occasional housecleaning and yardwork jobs, and to cater to his poetry addiction.

From the book:
Venus In Retirement
Venus had tired of endless loving
and so retired to Carolina,
where she spent her passion as a flytrap,
flies being so much sweeter than men.
One Use For George W. Bush
All alone,
even with the cat
on my lap,
I lapse into
self-pity,
the usual style
for morbid poets,
until I remember
the president
trying to speak,
and after the anger
dies,
I begin
to laugh.
