This book is dedicated in memory of my father David Granville Curry (1926-1988) who treated everyone he met with kindness and thoughtfulness and always showed peacefulness and a quiet dignity to the world and to my mother Orpha Jones Curry, who courageously shows a positive attitude and greets every new day with a smile, despite her own present health challenges and to all men and women who struggle with trauma, illness or disability each day.
From the book:
RECONCILING WITH MY SPIRIT
We decided to go for a little walk--
Spirit and me.
We got out of the car
and were in a meadow.
The sun was high
and the flowers
gave off the richest perfume.
My chest went up and down
in its own rhythm.
The friend and critic
can be one.
Spirit and I--
we talked until
the sun went down.
And it stayed outside
beside me throughout the night.
