SJ 2010 Page 5 NOLA
Took a hike out at the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve. Wanted to spend at least part of a day exploring some of the natural world down south. Someone suggested this would be a good place to do so. Poppy, Pat's daughter, came along for the adventure. We hiked about 4 miles on a beautiful, warm Louisiana afternoon.
Most of the 4 mile hike was along boardwalks over swampy land

That evening, my last in New orleans, Danny hosted a gathering of poets in their backyard. A great way to finish off a wonderful stay in NO!

Gesturing while telling a story.
A collection of Mardi Gras beads a few doors down the street.
Holt cemetery. A cemetery established in 1879 for the poor of New Orleans. Jazz musician Buddy Bolden is buried there, but the exact whereabouts are unknown. Most of the markers are handmade.
Goodbye photos with Danny and Pat then out on the road, heading north.
