Home Answering Machine Diaries
(From Wnnie)
You can call this the "home answering machine diaries" since this is our main mode of communication. I only have spoken to him once- and he wasn't even in Oregon yet! (he called from the SF airport)

I'm just calling to say "hey!" I had a great day at the beach and am heading toward Eugene again. Everything's going well so far.

I'm in the mountains of Oregon. Everythings's going just super! I'll call again asap. My shin splints are gone.

Hey, I'm just calling to check in. Things are going extremely well. I'm getting ready to cross a major pass up in the Cascades- McKenzie Pass- on my way to a town called Sisters. It'll probably take me the rest of the day to get there.
Anyway, three days of tail winds, phenomenal weather, great people, great wildlife, and it just goes on and on and on. I may not get to another phone for a long time. It looks like a big break between pay phones. Bye.

Hey, it's me. I am in Sisters Oregon, a beautiful little town in the middle of the Cascade Mountains, heading to Prineville and to John Day and on to Baker City. I was in the wilderness area last night. A really nice night except we had Skunk Lake type of mosquito population. [Winnie's note: Skunk Lake was a place we camped in the Wind River Range of Wyoming with our good friends Pat and Karin. The mosquitoes are active there even in 40F weather and simply devoured us.] It was really bad, but it was beautiful- the Cascades, Mount Hood, and all that stuff. Talk to you later. Bye.
